Launching with marine airbags has become one of the most widely adopted methods for ship launching due to its safety, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. Selecting the right airbags is essential to ensure a smooth and secure launching operation. Below are the key parameters to consider when choosing suitable marine airbags.
1. Effective Length
The effective length of the airbag should be no less than the maximum breadth of the vessel. This ensures full support during launching and prevents instability.
2. Diameter
The airbag diameter is determined primarily by the height of the ship blocks.
If the block height is 1.0 m, choose airbags with a diameter of no less than 1.5 m.
If the block height is 1.5 m, airbags with a 2.0 m diameter are recommended.
Selecting the correct diameter helps maintain optimal lifting height and load distribution during the rolling process.
3. Number of Layers
The number of layers determines the overall strength and pressure-bearing capacity of the airbag.
For most ship launching operations, 6 layers are sufficient.
For heavier vessels or demanding working conditions, airbags with 7 to 10 layers may be required.
Choosing the right layer configuration ensures safe working pressure and longer service life.
