There are many types and forms of containment booms. But the basic structure is composed of the floating body, skirt body, tension belt, counterweight, and joint.
Floating body: part of the containment boom that provides buoyancy. Storage of the containment boom:
- To ensure rapid response, the containment boom should be kept as close as possible to docks, operation sites and sensitive resource protection sites, and accessible to vehicles and vessels.
- Outdoor oil containment booms should be stored in a place with good drainage conditions and pay attention to pests, moisture and avoid direct sunlight.
- Store indoors, also should pay attention to moistureproof and ensure good ventilation conditions and according to the situation in advance to take necessary measures to prevent pests (such as rodenticide, etc.)
- The oil booms that need to be folded and stored should be placed on the rest shelf and no other items should be piled on top of them to avoid deformation caused by excessive pressure.
