Ingalls gets $102 million contracts

0901Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula recently was awarded a $13.7 million U.S. Navy contract and an $88.2 million contract from the U.S. Coast Guard.

The $13.7 million modification to a previously awarded contract is for the design of the U.S. Navy’s amphibious warfare ship replacement, known as LX(R).

The $88.2 million fixed-price advance procurement contract is to purchase long-lead materials for a ninth National Security Cutter built at Ingalls in Pascagoula.

The advance procurement money will be used to buy steel, the main propulsion systems, generators, electrical switchboards and major castings for the ship, which will have a range of 12,000 miles and a crew of 120.

Ingalls already has delivered the first five NSCs, the flagship of the Coast Guard’s cutter fleet. Ingalls’ sixth NSC is scheduled for acceptance sea trials and delivery in the fourth quarter of 2016. The seventh ship is scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter, and the keel for the eighth is scheduled to be laid later this year.

The work on this contract is expected to be completed by September 2017.
