The oil boom is one of the important equipment used to prevent oil from spreading in waters, reduce oil spill area, transfer oil, and protect the water environment. According to different materials, there are mainly three common oil booms.
Different materials of the oil boom:
1.Solid float PVC boom: Made of high-intensity reversible colored PVC fabric, oil, and sunlight resistant, with long service life. Solid Float with high reserve buoyancy and tension strength, therefore it has been widely used in rivers, lakes, offshore oil platforms as well as other water areas.
2.Solid float rubber boom: Made of special rubber, with high intensity, resistant to abrasion, oil, and weather conditions. It has a smooth surface, favorable to spilled oil guidance and cleaning. It has quick universal connectors and can better adapt to wind and waves.
3.Fire resistant oil boom: Stainless float, heat-resistant flexible materials, and general quick couplings constitute a fire-proof system in the water area, which can be used with the normal oil boom. The biggest advantage of fire boom is intercepting burning oil and spreading fire, and then tow oil spills to a safe area for combustion. It is common used for oil port, oil wharf, oil drilling platform. Skirt-shaped body underwater is composed of oil-proof and anti-aging flame-retardant rubber, which is heavy-duty and aging resistant. Moreover, it is easy to store and reusable.
