Marine Bollard Types and Performance in application

Marine bollards are a simple and cost-effective way to meet mooring requirements and safely secure vessels alongside wharves, jetties, berths, and dolphins in ports and harbors. Bollards with a series of design profiles, sizes, and mooring line capacities to suit all mooring applications.

The shape of bollards has been improved by optimizing the geometry and anchor layout with finite element techniques. Even under full working load, bollards maintain a high degree of stability and provide safe and reliable mooring operations.

Marine bollard types

  1. “T-bollard”, “T-Head Bollard”, with a mooring line capacity range from 10 tonnes to 300 tonnes, and suitable for steeper rope angles.
  2. Kidney-shaped Bollard, a simple design that is suitable when low to the medium tidal range is expected.
  3. Staghorn design, some refer it to as the “Horn Bollard” as well. It can accommodate very steep mooring angles.
  4. Double Bitt Bollard, general-purpose applications up to 200 tonnes, and suitable for mooring multiple lines.
  5. Single Bitt Bollard, suitable for steep rope angles, and concrete-filled (optional). It Can be mounted onto existing US-style bollard bolt patterns.
  6. Cleats Bollards, Cast Steel/Cast Iron, Stainless Steel.

Marine bollard performance

Marine bollard is prominent in many parts of the world due to its simplicity and can complete operations up to 300 tons.. The worker measures each parameter to confirm and check with the engineer. Ensure that the specifications of each product meet the requirements. We will carefully inspect and inspect every part of the product.

In general, bollards should be designed with a thick diameter at the top (head/top of the structure) to prevent accidental leakage of mooring lines. It is important to provide a strong anchor point for the mooring line. Such an arrangement would provide closer ties. Besides size & design, bollards are also categorized by their grade and load ratings. Moreover, durability is a factor when choosing a suitable bollard design as maintenance is something that the end-user should have in mind.
