Supply Cell Fender Systems for Three New Liquid Bulk Berths
Date:2025-08-20
The expansion of Lianyungang Port, located in Jiangsu Province on the coast of the Yellow Sea, marks another significant step in strengthening China’s petrochemical logistics infrastructure. The new development consists of three 50,000 DWT liquid bulk berths, with a total quay length of 930 meters and a designed annual throughput capacity of 6.2 million tonnes. Once operational, the facility will be capable of accommodating three 50,000 DWT oil or chemical tankers simultaneously, addressing the growing cargo handling demands from downstream petrochemical manufacturers in the Xuwei area. This project significantly enhances the liquid bulk receiving capacity of the port.
To ensure safe berthing for the new terminals, Nanjing Deers was selected as the rubber fender supplier, delivering a combination of high-performance systems tailored to the operational requirements. The scope of supply included:
Double Cell Fender Systems, designed in a double-cell-one-panel configuration. This setup enhances energy absorption capacity, increases the cushioning and contact area, and provides greater protection—particularly suitable for handling larger vessels and higher impact forces.
D Fenders, installed at key points for secondary protection and designed to withstand repeated impacts from smaller vessels.
Arch Fenders, offering reliable performance under varying tidal conditions and suitable for a wide range of vessel sizes.
The double cell fenders systems design is a well-established solution, widely applied for terminals handling large vessels. This configuration enhances energy absorption, increases the contact area, and provides effective protection for oil and chemical tankers. Our engineering team ensured the fender systems were precisely dimensioned to suit the berthing conditions at Lianyungang Port, optimizing safety and performance for vessels of different sizes.
The successful supply of fender systems to Lianyungang Port demonstrates our capability to deliver customized, high-quality berthing protection solutions for large-scale liquid bulk terminals.
