After the intensive work for almost two months, we finally finished the production of 456pcs D rubber fenders. This is our first fender product order after resuming operation and it was placed during the period of Quarantine, which gave us much courage in that hard time.

D fender also called a semi-circular fender, is a very simple rubber fender profile and one of the most widely used fenders in the world. Depending on different internal designs, D type fenders can be divided into DD type fender and DO type fender. In this order, this is a DD type, which means there is a “D” shape on the fender center.

As to the applications, D rubber fenders can be used either on jetties or on ships. The difference is in the way of drilling holes. Generally, the installation holes were drilled from top to bottom, bolts, nuts, and washers are used to fix the fender tightly on the dock. When the fenders are used on ships, in order to protect the ship’s body, there always have grooves prepared for fenders. Fixing holes were drilled from side to side on the fender.

Easy for the installation and economy in the cost is one of the advantages for the D shape fenders. As usually D fender can be installed by bolts, nuts, and washers. Another advantage of D rubber fender is a suitable reaction force and energy absorption. This can meet general requirements for protecting the ships and jetties.

In conclusion, D fenders can be used for tugs and workboats, jetties and wharves for small craft, pontoon protection, inland waterways, and general-purpose berthing.

The D type rubber fender sizes can vary from 100mm to 500mm, and the length depends on customers’ requirements. Of course, new molds can be opened on the base of a certain amount if customers have the requirements. In this order, the height of the fender is 200mm and the length is 3300mm, which is a standard size.

When the rated deflection is 50%, the reaction force of DD200*L3300mm rubber fender is 485KN, the energy absorption is 16.8KN.M, the tolerance of ±10% is acceptable.

Inspectors from Nanjing Deers QC Department took visual and dimensional inspections before shipment as usual. For visual inspection, all fenders were found in good conditions, without any visual cracking. As the quantity is huge, they selected 3% of the total 456pcs fenders at random for dimensional inspection, which is 14pcs of that. As per the contract, the Customer allowed a tolerance of -3%~+5% of the fender dimensions. All results were satisfactory.
