How Submerged Objects Are Salvaged

Retrieving objects that have sunk underwater is a common task in port maintenance, river dredging, or ship accident recovery. The method chosen depends on the weight, size of the object and water depth. Here are some common approaches:

1.Drainage / Water Removal

The most traditional method for shallow or enclosed waters. Water is lowered or pumped out to expose the object for manual or mechanical retrieval. Simple, but not suitable for deep water or large objects.

2.Floating Crane Retrieval

Uses floating cranes or shipboard lifting equipment with cables or slings to lift objects to the surface. Effective for large objects, but requires specialized equipment and higher costs.

3.Buoyancy-Assisted Retrieval

A modern, flexible method. Inflatable devices provide extra buoyancy to lift objects gradually from the bottom, ideal for irregular or scattered items.

Among these, salvage marine airbags are widely used. Made from durable, pressure-resistant materials, they can be inflated underwater to lift objects gently and precisely. By adjusting the size and number of airbags, different weights and volumes of submerged objects can be controlled precisely, minimizing damage to both the objects and the water environment.

For lighter objects or tight spaces, PVC lift bags are also commonly used. They are simple, portable, and can provide additional buoyancy in tight areas.

In summary, there are various methods for retrieving submerged objects, each with its advantages and limitations. Choosing the right method requires careful consideration of water depth, object weight, and environmental conditions.
