How to choose pneumatic fenders for ships

pneumatic fenders (1)
At present, the main basis for choosing an pneumatic fender is the amount of energy absorbed. The collision energy when the ship touches the shore can be calculated according to the mass of the ship and the speed of landing. The energy absorbed by the pneumatic fender mainly depends on the diameter “D” and “length” L of the pneumatic fender and the initial inflation pressure. Below is our product performance data sheet.
Normal Size Performance(inner pressure:50Kpa,60%deflection)
Diameter Length Reaction force at GEA Guaranteed energy absorption
(mm) (mm) (KN) (GEA)( KN.M)
500 1000 64 6
600 1000 74 8
700 1500 137 17
1000 1500 182 32

Select the scale of the pneumatic fender according to the above table, and the principle is that one pneumatic fender can absorb all the impact energy. If 2 to 4 pneumatic fenders are used on one side of the ship’s side, the safety guarantee is higher. The diameter of the pneumatic fender should not be too large. Excessively large pneumatic fender diameter will increase the gap between the side of the ship and the wharf, which is not conducive to the loading and unloading of personnel and cargo. The following table can be used as a reference for small and medium-sized ships and large oil tankers to choose pneumatic fenders.
