Construction of Lekki Port in Nigeria completes
Recently, the construction of Lekki Port in Nigeria was completed. The project started construction in June 2020 with a total investment of US$1.044 billion. It mainly built two container berths, a tugboat terminal, 2.7 kilometers of breakwaters and revetments, a port basin and a 9-kilometer waterway, and a rear land area of 470,000 square meters.
After the completion of the project, Lekki Port can now dock 18,000 TEU container ships, with an annual designed throughput of 1.2 million TEUs. The construction of Lekki Port is expected to provide nearly 200,000 direct and indirect jobs in Nigeria over the next few years.
