Rubber Fender Systems for Ningbo Zhoushan Port’s Daxie Container Terminal Expansion
Nanjing Deers has successfully delivered a batch of rubber fender systems for the expansion of the Daxie Container Terminal at Ningbo Zhoushan Port, one of the world’s busiest and most strategically important ports.
Located on the northwestern side of the Daxie port area, the project involves a 300-meter eastward extension of the existing terminal platform, along with the reinforcement and upgrading of Berth No.1 into a 200,000-ton class container berth. With a total investment of approximately RMB 950 million, the expansion is expected to add an annual handling capacity of around 920,000 TEU.
The Phase II development of the Daxie Container Terminal is being implemented in three stages. The first stage—recently completed and accepted—includes five major components: a newly constructed 300-meter quay, dredging works for the new berth area, revetment engineering, road infrastructure, and auxiliary production buildings.
For this completed section, Nanjing Deers supplied a combination of rubber fender systems tailored to the operational requirements of the terminal. The delivery included:
- 16 sets of H1600 Super Cell Fenders, each equipped with frontal panels
- 32 sets of H300 Arch Fenders with varying lengths
- 6 sets of rubber ladders
Each system was designed to ensure reliable energy absorption and vessel protection under demanding berthing conditions, supporting the safe and efficient operation of large container vessels.
With the completion of Phase II Stage I, the Daxie Container Terminal now forms a continuous 1,800-meter quay line, significantly enhancing its overall handling capacity. This development further strengthens the role of Ningbo Zhoushan Port as a global shipping hub and provides robust infrastructure support for international logistics and China’s “dual circulation” development strategy.
